When should I start buying baby furniture and clothes?

i'm 17 weeks pregnant and i was wondering when everyone else starting buying stuff? My husband says we should wait but i think we should start now. What does everyone think?

are you having a shower? I would register for all of the big stuff. A lot of people will go in together to purchase the high price items. I wouldn't buy the big stuff til closer to 30-32 weeks. Hope that helped
