when is the right time to start buying baby furniture while pregnant?

I waited until I was nearly 8 months pregnant. I did not have a baby shower (I was 18.. most high schoolers can't buy baby shower gifts..) and it took that entire eight months or so to convince my mother that I was not adopting the baby out, who ended up buying the baby furniture as a gift for me and baby.

(Just as a note, I lived without her for many years, so it honestly was a gift.)

Normally I would say 6-7 months pregnant. That way the baby is highly likely to survive if born prematurely, but will be in NICU for a while (if born that early) in case you don't have things set up.
Otherwise its right before you get too big to be able to see the screwdriver for the crib, but not too soon that you won't be able to get back up off the floor after setting it up.
